Reduced Pumping Losses
In part load the intake volume of the Gomecsys VCR engine is reduced with 10%.
On normal VCR engines the increase in efficiency in part load (from running at a higher CR level) will make it necessary to increase throttling of the engine. This increases the pumping losses and as such reduces the overall gain in efficiency from running at a higher CR.
When running at high CR with the Gomecsys VCR technology, TDC gasexchange is much lower than normal. The difference between tdc firing and tdc gasexchange (within one cycle) can be as high as 8 mm at max CR.
The reduction of the intake volume in part load more then compensates the normal increase in pumping losses. This functionality reduces fuel consumption and CO2 emission by another 3%.
