4 Inline with one actuation system
The 4 inline engine can be equipped with one or two actuation systems. When equipped with one actuation system we connect two eccentrics with one eccentricgear.

The advantage of this layout is that only one actuation system has to be used, with reduces cost and friction. This layout however needs one first order balance shaft, which is not needed when a double actuation system is used with the conventional crankshaft and firing order.
