250 bar peak cylinder pressure - no problem

Peak combustion forces in Diesel engines are much.... much higher then the peak combustion in gasoline engines. It's logic to think that the load on the gears of the GoEngine mechanism in a diesel application will be much higher then on gasoline engines. But the opposite is true.... because..... we can use a much smaller eccentricity on a diesel application. An eccentricity of 0,5 to 1 mm is normally enough to realise the required variation in compression ratio on a diesel application, and because the load on the gears is directly related to the eccentricity this means that the load on the gears in a GoEngine diesel application is only 1/2 the load of a gasoline application.
